A Simple 3-Step Process to Achieving Your Health and Fitness Goals

Paleo Meal Planning

Any kind of goal planning and execution can be difficult. It's not the sexiest of activities. It's not fun to do. It doesn't provide a shot of instant gratification.

At this point in your paleo lifestyle you understand that dietary fat is not as bad as you've been lead to believe. You know that processed carbohydrates are really to blame for the obesity epidemic. I'm assuming you understand that sitting on your butt all day long does not lead to excellent health and increased longevity.

In other words, you have the basics down. You know what to do. The big challenge is closing the "knowing doing" gap.

The 3-Step Process to Achieving Health and Fitness Goals

At this point you need to take all the excellent knowledge you have and translate it into a plan of action. Once you have a plan of action all you have to do is execute.

I'm simplifying the process a little bit but it boils down to these three steps:

1. Decide what you want and why you want it. Do you really want it? What's the emotional and physical payoff you get from achieving your goal?

2. Acquire knowledge about how to do it and construct your plan. Modeling other people is the best way to get the knowledge you're after. This is what books and courses allow you to do. Study people who have gotten the results you're after.

3. Execute your plan until the goal is achieved. You can make changes to the plan along the way but you should only change one thing at a time and test the results you get.

This three step process can be used to achieve a goal in any area of your life. If you find that you're having a hard time achieving your goal then you can troubleshoot this process by looking at each step and asking yourself if there is a problem.

Are you missing key information? Did you misunderstand a key strategy? Are you modeling someone that has a different goal than you do? Are you consistantly taking action? Are you giving yourself the best possible chance of success or are you cheating yourself?

Planning Your Nutrition Can't Be Avoided

There is no debate about how important the role of good nutrition is in achieving good health and a physique you can be proud of. It is the crucial piece of the puzzle that will give you 90% of the results, good or bad.

There's great news for you if you want to be healthy. You get to decide what you eat. It's your choice. Normally, most debate and arguments about nutrition come in the form of how many calories to eat, what percentage of macros to eat and what supplements to take.

Guess what? More great news! The science has been done and people have been achieving great results for a long time. Even before the paleo diet was a popular search term.

Do some research and look at how old school bodybuilders achieved awesome physiques. You could also research people who have experienced life changing transformations and managaged to keep themselves healthy long after the "diet" was over. Look at how people who rely on their physiques to make a living execute their diet and exercise plan.

I'll save you some time. I read this type of information daily. Even information that is on non-paleo sites. Gasp!

The unifying thread is that all of these people follow a nutrition plan that resembles a paleo diet at some level.

--They reduce processed carbohydrates or, in most cases, cut them out entirely.

--They focus on eating whole foods in their natural state.

--They are not afraid to eat good fats.

--They increase their intake of vegetables, especially green leafy ones.

--They eat enough protein to build and maintain muscle tissue.

Sounds familiar, doesn't it?

These people strive to live a healthy lifestyle and have established other lifestyle habits that round out their diet and exercise. This doesn't happen by accident. It takes a tremendous amount of planning and execution to get great results. They think about this stuff every day.

Plan for Success In These 3 Key Areas of Life

There are three big areas that you have to have a plan for.

1. Nutrition

2. Exercise

3. Emotional Well-Being (managing stress, spritual, mental health, etc.)
